DEFAMATION SUIT AGAINST TATA WITHDRAWN.

Nusli Wadia ( Chairman , Wadia Group ) has withdrawn the defamation suit against Ratan Naval Tata (ex-chairman , Tata Group) and others. Wadia withdrew the case after Ratan Tata and others told the Supreme Court that he had no intention of defaming Nusli Wadia.

Wadia filed a defamation case against Tata in December 2016 which sought Rs3000 crore.

Wadia mentioned some names other than Ratan Tata in the lawsuit. It included the names of Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran and board members  Vijay Singh,Ajay Piramal, Ranendra Sen, FN Subedar and Venu Srinivasan.

Court allowed Wadia to withdraw the petition in the supreme court after Tata and others stated that they did not have any intention to defame Nusli Wadia.

Wadia filed a defamation case against Ratan Tata and other board members of Tata Sons in 2016 after he was removed ( voted out ) as a board member of few Tata Companies.

WHO IS RATAN TATA?

 

Ratan Naval Tata, aged 82, is an Indian industrialist, Philanthropist and investor. He served as the chairman of Tata Group from 1990-2012 and Interim Chairman From October 2016 – February 2017. He is one of the most respected businessmen of the country and is awarded with the prestigious Padma Vibhushan (2008) and Padma Bhushan (2000).

 

WHO IS NUSLI WADIA?

 

Nusli Wadia , aged 75,  is a British businessman and entrepreneur of Indian Origin. He is the chairman of the Wadia Group.

 

Wadia was born in Bombay and later moved to Britain. He is the grandson of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan.
